About Us

Quentin's Corner

The reason Little Bird exists, it all started from a little man named Quentin!

Hatched from a supermarket egg as lockdown project for a family; Quentin the quail came to us looking for a new home. It was soon clear he needed some company and with that, soon started our first small flock. From there our quail numbers grew, and we were able to start rearing our own, and as they say; the rest is history!

Although Quentin is sadly no longer with us; his legacy lives on in our logo and quail pen is now known as Quentin’s Corner.

Smokey and his bandits

After our quail flock was fully established; we were able to bring our first chook breed into the mix!

Cue our big boy Smokey and his two stunning ladies Gracie and Dusty!

This enabled us to enter the world of Chickens, with some stunning blues right off the bat! (In fact we still have two of our first ever hatches Chip and Nugget with us today). Gracie remains today at the helm of the Little Bird empire, and never fails to go broody several times a year, and is always an amazing mother to any chicks that need a little bit of extra help!

Our ranks have grown since then, with multiple breeding groups; and beautiful array of colours.

Amy and Josh

The two humans behind it all!

Whilst working together at a local dairy farm, Quentin (as mentioned above!) came into our lives. After selling a few quails eggs to the locals, we realised we were onto something!

Amy has a varied background in the industry,  initially studying at the Berkshire College of Agriculture, she has gathered a wide range of experience from working closely with cows (and her absolute favour sheep) to operating heavy machinery. She is also a keen horse rider, and when not working can often be found spending time with her cob; Danny!

Josh on the other hand, began life as a commercial pilot; before finding his passion working with animals and in agriculture over the Covid pandemic. Gaining experience rapidly during lockdown, this has led him to following his goals of running his own business. When not having his feet pecking by pullets; he enjoys building things (that sometimes work) and playing with cars!
